There are many different terms thrown around to describe the financial adviser role. You have probably seen Independent Financial Adviser (IFA), Wealth Management, maybe Wealth Consultant. What's now being added into the mix is a ‘Financial Planner’.

Within this module, we'll be looking at what a financial planner actually is and how they differ from a financial adviser (and the many other potential titles). The module will also be taking a closer look on the potential structure of a financial plan and the key areas to consider.

This module is defined by three units. They are:

  • An introduction to financial planning
  • Financial planning in depth
  • The contents of a financial plan

During this module, you will:

  • Outline the typical features of financial planning.
  • Understand the role financial planning plays when providing advice and how cashflow planning software can link in.
  • Describe the financial planning process and explain how it differs from financial advice.
  • Evaluate the use of financial planning as a component of financial advice.
