Often when you’re working in finance, you’re thrown into the deep end and generally expected to understand things like asset allocations and types of risk and generally to be an overall economic genius!

Within this module, we’ll be taking a step back to explain these main concepts and understand the benefits of having a Centralised Investment Proposition (CIP). Whether you’ve been working in finance for a long time or are completely brand new, our module will help increase your knowledge of the markets and investment options. We promise that afterwards analytics reports will be an absolute dream to analyse.

This module is defined by four units. They are:

  • Markets, assets and diversification
  • Investment options
  • How can funds be used?
  • Adviser implementation

During this module, you will:

  • Understand why it is important for investors to diversify their holdings across multiple asset types.
  • Evaluate the three main fund management strategies – actively-managed, passive index-trackers and with-profits.
  • Outline the major differences in approach between a multi-asset fund, a model portfolio service and a bespoke, externally-managed portfolio with comments on the general suitability for their target markets.
  • Explain what is meant by segmenting, and how having a Centralised Investment Proposition (CIP) makes adherence to PROD rules much easier.
