The advice journey is an incredibly important process. It provides firms with the opportunity to fully engage with and get to know their client throughout their relationship… which is the foundation of providing suitable advice. Thankfully, the FCA’s most recent suitability review found a large majority of cases were suitable. So, most advisers are giving great advice. Amazing!

But… (there’s always a but) only a small percentage of cases were compliant when it came to disclosure. The problem can be easily resolved if firms invest in their client journey, and this is where our module can help! We will clearly map out the regulatory requirements and the many ways this can be implemented within your firm. We have found that this is useful for all members of staff, whether brand new or fully fledged, so that everyone is embedded within the process.

This module is defined by four units. They are:

  • Meeting the client
  • The factfind
  • Risk & capacity for loss
  • Implementation and review

During this module you will:

  • Explore how to prepare for an initial client meeting, including a review of the various paperwork and regulatory requirements needed at each stage.
  • Understand how the factfind forms the foundation of the advice process and what makes a good one including: what should / shouldn't be included, what a clear objective is, and what the difference is between hard and soft facts.
  • Learn how to deliver a recommendation and the regulatory requirements needed for a sign-up meeting.
  • Consider the next steps for processing new business and explore how back office systems can help planning firms track and process business.
