It is quite common for ‘specialists’ to have veered into this niche role from previous roles, a paraplanner may choose to become an investments specialist or a financial adviser may then become a pension transfer specialist for example. However, that is not always the case. As with the financial services industry, no one box fits all.  

The actual title and the duties involved will also vary depending on the firm. An investment specialist within an Asset Management firm will have a completely different role to an investment specialist within a financial advice firm. Sounds confusing, we know... But we like to think of that as a positive thing! If anything, it shows that the opportunities available within our industry are definitely varied. Whether you choose to focus solely on one role or progress into different roles, we truly believe there is something for everyone!
